In life there are good and bad times, light and shadow. Sometimes those dark shadows get the better of the light. They sneak into our mind and into our heart, they chase us no matter where we are. Sometimes we just close our eyes and pretend that everything is okay, that we are able to live with them. Or we try to escape to get the light back into our lives. But can you really run from what's inside you?
Ecosphere was first inspired by the song called "Innere Altmark" by the german band Frittenbude. First I wanted to tell the story of the "little common something" that travels through the remains of a long ago broken relationship. After a very sad incident I changed the plot a bit and interpreted the story new for myself. It now shows the journey of the protagonist through a fantastic world in his own ecosphere while he's trying to escape from the shadows.
"Ecosphere" is a heart project. It was made during a time after I lost a beloved friend. It was my way to deal with the grief. I considered the topic "depression" and I wanted to show how a depression feels like. It is not that you're just sad and you don't know why – it is a serious disease that you can't heal. You only can learn to live with it, but you can't runaway.
